A diplomat from the USA reported through CNN that three people are being held in custody in Belarus, one of whom is a US citizen.
According to the diplomat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs receives daily reports, and one of these reports lists the names of the three detainees, including an American. It is unknown what charges have been presented against these individuals.
According to the US State Department, in the near future, efforts will be made to communicate with the American citizens currently under detention in Belarus.
US authorities are also investigating cases of arrests and detentions in Belarus and have expressed concern regarding the respect for human rights and democratic values in this country.
